Railay Beach
Railay Beach can be reached by boat only. Sometimes the tide does not allow the boats to reach the beach, and therefore it is recommended to come in bathing suits or shorts and flip-flops.
The towering cliffs and wild vegetation of the white beaches, create a dramatic landscape from which occasional cute monkeys emerge to look for food. In Railay Beach, you can visit a stalactite cave and go rock climbing if you wish, there are tall and spectacular cliffs that are worth checking out, even if you didn’t come to climb.
At night, there is not much to do and during the day as well. But if you are looking for peace and quiet in paradise, this is the place. In Railay you do nothing but relax, take a cruise to the nearby islands and eat pineapples on the beach. The beautiful seashore is Pranang Beach (5 minutes walk): huge cliffs, clear water, very long and not filled with tourists and the place itself “goes to sleep” at around 9pm. There are pubs and clubs on the eastern side. Just keep in mind that this is a relatively small place you should visit to relax – don’t expect Koh Phangan.
Rock Climbing in Krabi
Krabi’s beaches are considered a paradise for rock climbers. The combination of huge limestone cliffs rising from the water creates a stunning and safe landscape for climbers. The view is stunning from the top of the cliff: the entire ocean and the small islands scattered around it. The climb is safe thanks to the deep waters below.
Skilled climbers will find over 600 climbing routes(!), from beginner level (4) to expert level (8c). You can rent climbing equipment in the climbing schools in the area, and if you are traveling on your own, they will also be happy to introduce you to other climbers who can join you, in order to secure each other.
Most of the professional routes are in the Railay beach area and especially on the isolated Tonsai beach. The beach is surrounded by huge cliffs on all sides, and if you want to reach it by foot, it is possible only through a long steep trail through the jungle, or when the tide is very low. Those who come to the beach will most likely do so in a boat from Ao Nang or Railay. Most of those coming to this Beach are enthusiastic climbers who want to enjoy some of the best climbing sites in the world, or young people who want a quiet beach to hang in. This is the place to escape from the bustle of Ao Nang or Railay.
Those who have never climbed before can join the climbing schools that offer a variety of possibilities. Starting with a taste – a 4-hour lesson with a certified instructor who will teach the climbing basics and give a simple experience, all the way to a long climbing day of 8 hours, and even courses spanning several days. Everything is secured, and even children can participate. So if you’re tired of lying on the beach, why not you try to be above it?
